Case Study
Client
Cobden & Hayson Surry Hills was an inner Sydney branch of the Cobden & Hayson real estate agency brand.
Why They Needed Our Help
When the new Surry Hills office opened, the owners were keen to raise awareness in their business and local community, and find ways to support these communities.
They also needed to re-engage their staff, some of whom were disengaged after the office relocation.
The Objectives
Put Cobden & Hayson Surry Hills on the map as a trusted, expert name in real estate who are also committed to giving back to their local community.
The Strategy
- Reconnect and strengthen the team culture – making C&H an organisation people want to work for and commit to.
- Give back to the local community by supporting NFPs
- Engage and build strategic alliances with the local business community.
What We Did
We created a 6-month marketing and engagement campaign targeting the business and local communities:
Business Community
- We facilitated relationships with the Surry Hills business chamber, who ran ads through their collateral.
- We ran our own campaigns to deliver those messages across C&H’s social media channels.
- Helped C&H collaborate with mortgage broker, ANZ Mortgages,to co-host an investor lunch event, where they invited their clients as a ‘thank you’, and in effect created a cross-marketing opportunity.
- Staff engagement: ran specifically tailored staff events such as icebreaking and team-building activities.
Local Community
- With the C&H team already an active supporter of Surry Hills’ thriving LGBTIQ+ community, we connected them with Team Sydney as a sponsor. They sponsored the organisation and participated in the 2018 Mardi Gras Fair Day and festival.
- Displayed a mural on their shopfront, promoting them as “proud supporters of Team Sydney and Mardi Gras” during the festival to raise awareness of their brand and community support.
Results
- Received great response and feedback from attendants.
- Increased brand awareness and exposure to local community and clients
- Great response on social media to event video footage and filmed client and staff testimonials.
- Team-building cocktail making staff event lifted the energy in the C&H team.
- Team Sydney sponsorship:gained great social media traction, promoting their participation in the Mardi Gras 2018 Fair Day and festival.
- C&H was holder and naming rights owner of the Team Sydney Tug-of-War Shield.
- Co-hosted investor lunch with ANZ Mortgages: strengthened relationship with a key referral partner, and attracted 60 targeted, key people to attend.
What They Said …
“From our first meeting, I instantly felt comfortable with Tiz and her marketing advice. She took the bull by the horns and drove the campaign, giving me a list of responsibilities and deadlines. With her honesty and direction, we worked together and delivered one of our most successful marketing campaigns. Our events went off without a hitch and helped us successfully re-engage our staff, as well as connect and collaborate with our community.”
Working with her, I learned these campaigns don’t just magically happen. It takes a lot of teamwork with the right strategist, which is what I had with Tiz.”
Kristian Nelson-Marshall – Director, Cobden & Hayson, Surry Hills
Testimonials
Tiz’s strongest asset is her ability to strategically think about your business. Tiz and I worked closely together to plan marketing strategies and initiatives and review the strategy offer by key partners in social media, web and other online initiatives. I highly recommend Tiz Porreca for high-level strategy and relationship building.
Matt Alderton – CEO Bx, BxNetworking
Tiz was able to plan and help facilitate a successful launch resulting in various elements of collateral that we were able to use in other marketing activities. Tiz brings with her a great capacity to see the bigger picture and we love that she knows how important connecting is, building communities and creating loyalty. It’s really easy to communicate and work with Tiz. She just gets it.
Kristian Nelson-Marshall – Director, Cobden and Hayson Surry Hills
Underneath her technical skills is a deep-seated understanding of people and a focus on connecting them to what’s important. I liked that the burden of responsibility to deliver on everything became her’s – she’s organised, well connected, and has a ‘can do’ attitude. Even though we’ve all moved on, her work still resonates for the organisation today.
Alan Johnston – Project Procurement Manager, British Marine Technology (BMT) Defence and Security
She brought great, creative ideas: “How do we make this more exciting?” She’s got a strategic approach – she helps you brainstorm what you want to achieve and understand what you stand for. She helped us articulate about ourselves much better. She’s very comfortable connecting larger organisations with the small business community.
